NEWS LIVE TOUR 2013 report from August 9th in Kobe

NEWLIVE TOUR 201report from August 9th in Kobe

The concert took place in Hotto Motto Stadium Kobe, so it was my first outdoor concert. It wasn’t so hard to find this place, because a lot of fangirls was heading towards this place, so I didn’t get lost. But as I came a bit later than I planned, I immediately rushed to buy goods. The weather was really nice, way too nice, and my head was burning by that incredible sunshine. But I was still happy, because I would be really sad if it had to be cancelled like the Tokyo concert. (which I btw planned to go to, thanks god I didn’t get the tickets).
After buying Shige’s uchiwa and the small case, just for that awesome logo and things for my friends, I went inside the stadium. My seat was of course standing seat and it was pretty far from that awesome stage. Take a look.

On the photo it looks further than in real, but well…I was happy I’m there. My very first NEWS concert. They were my first group from JE I started to like and it took me so long to attend their concert.  I still had some half hour until the start and by the meantime, another Shige fan sat next to me. She was a very nice a bit older Japanese girl. She was also alone, so we talked a bit. And in my seats section, there were way too many Shige fans, I was very surprised by his popularity.

17:30 The start!
As I expected, it started with the first song from the album,
Compass , and some footage on screens.
After that NEWS came out from the center stage singing
World Quest and I was so happy that my eyes got teary. I don’t remember the exact order, but the first part including WQ was Chankapaana, 4+FAN,  Koi Matsuri, Nagisa no Onee-samaa, Pokoponpekorya (which was very cute and not annoying at all!). Basically just songs from the new album, which got us really excited mainly during Koi Matsuri when everyone swung their towels.

Then, their started to sing a LOT of their old b-sides. I was very surprised, I knew all, but I couldn’t remember some titles because I just don’t remember all the b-sides XD Songs like
SCHOCK ME, Good News and Liar, which had a great great great intro on screen. And I’m not sure about DREAMS. Then some older album songs including  BE FUNKY! (I love this song!).
There was again the marching troupe from their previous tour Utsukushii Koi ni suru yo. They sang
Kibou Yell and others (NEWS NIPPON?), but I’m not sure which. After that, there were some jazzy/acoustic versions of Futari/130000000 no Kiseki and Summer Time and it was totally awesome. But I never got my Sakura Girl L
They couldn’t forget about their big hits
Weeeek, Koi no ABO and Taiyou no Namida(I was surprised by this song as it was the main theme for Yamapi’s Kurosagi), Cherish (YAY!), also Fighting Man. Then another new album songs likeGreedier, Full Swing, Higher Ground, the WQ b-side Quntastic and I will never ever forget about Dance in the dark, because it was the most awesome thing I’ve ever seen. I was left with my mouth open after this performance.
And of course each of them got their new solo. Everyone had it different. The first one was Massu and
Remedy and…just wow! I always thought that Massu is the great harmony between cute and hot, but….just wow :D It was so great! He danced a lot and the big screen showed a lot of his…ehm…things! :D I can’t forget to mention that Massu designed with the Costume-san all of their costumes. Kei-chan’s solo Beautiful Rain was really beautiful as the title says. His voice was so incredibly clear and pretty that I could listen to it the whole day. Shige’s Dreamcatcher reminded me a bit of something between Cacao and Vampire wa Kakukatariki. It was a bit jazzy, atmospheric and very cool. And last but not least, Tegoshi performed Lovin‘ you with a guitar accompanied with nice light effects. Very concert-like.
In the middle was the 30 minute long MC and it was the funniest MC I’ve ever seen (including all the JE DVD’s I saw).
On screens appeared a new letter from the „mysterious“ ‚
J‘ we already know from the album dvd Life of NEWS. Kei-chan read it and it said they have a new task:

Your girlfriend is 30 minute late for your date. What will be your reaction when she arrives saying „Omatase!“(Sorry for waiting!)

So they decided that we all fans are Onee-sama and Onii-sama (:D because they called for all girls and then all boys to see how many are there). And so we had to scream „Omatase!“ every time someone of them was on turn. First was Tegoshi and Kei-chan said to him hundred of time to be serious, but of course it’s our little devil, he can't be serious about this and made a funny pun. Then it was Shige’s turn:
Onee-samas and Onii-samas: „Omatase!“(Sorry for waiting!)
Shige: „Oseeyo!“(You are late!)
Shige:“Ikuzo!“(We're going!)

Veeery tsundere and cool and ALL fans were going crazy. I seriously  swear, Shige was the most popular one in this concert. And his aura, smile, laugh and everything...it captured all our hearts.

Kei-chan had some long talk and I don’t remember wthat Massu did and Tegoshi went once again and imitated Shige. Fans should decide in the end who was the best by applause and Shige won without a doubt. He was so happy J

Then they didn’t know what to do next, so Shige suggested another scene to be played out:

You see your girlfriend walking hand in hand with another boy. What is your reaction.

Tegoshi was decided to play the main role, Kei-chan was the another boy  and Massu volunteered himself for the role of girlfriend happily :D Shige was coordinating everything(getting full of himself:D) and Kei-chan and Massu got mad, so they started to argue in the center of the stage. Like calling Shige in some more vulgar way and yell at him and he did the same, but it was so funny and Tegoshi was just laughing in the middle of it. Suddenly, it looked as they forgot that they are in the middle of a concert, so they apologised :D Tegoshi decided that the situation is while skating. So they started to do weird movements, which should be skating, but we all laughed so hard. Kei-chan and Massu hand in hand, Tegoshi stopping them with: Oi! That’s my girlfriend! And grabbing Massu to his side, leaving. And Kei-chan just stood there without reaction. So Shige just exclaimed: And what will you do Kei-chan? What will you do? (as a commentator:D) And Kei-chan just started to skate again asi if nothing happened. That was soo funny! :D
Then they talked, laughed and everything. It was so interesting! I almost rolled on the floor. I don’t know about other MCs (I suppose they got a different task at each concert) but this should be definitelly included in their DVD as a bonus! :D

The last song was
Cry and also they talked again about some things. Kei-chan promised us that they will never, really never ever betray us again. They will continue to be NEWS from now on till....always J He was so serious while saying this. I was touched. The true leader of NEWS J

The encore was
Happy Birthday, Koi Matsuri with firework and 4+FAN again. (Maybe I forgot something?) And at the end, they had a surprise for us. The most beautiful firework J Because I could watch it with them. And there were also shapes of the alphabets N, E, W and S.
I will never ever forget this great concert. Thank you very much my beloved NEWS. I love you.

Oh and there were also many juniors (kansai ones and some tokyo ones), but it was too far to recognize someone XD.

And some small remarks from me:
Massu: He trolled Shige the whole time. For example once Shige stood up in front of camera under the stage, making a cool pose and suddenly, there was Massu behind him on stage making funny things, so in the end everybody ended up laughing and Shige didn't even know why :D
Kei-chan: Sometimes confused about the stage :D When he was supposed to head to "his" stage with the purple square, he went to Shige's circle :D So cute.
Tegoshi: Very nice person! He waved at my section a lot! And during MC rolling on the floor, so funny! :D
Shige: As I said. He was shining the most. When I remember the Diamond tour, where Kei-chan tried to support him, with screaming his name a lot, trying to instigate it to the fans, now....Shige is already on his own feet being loved by all NEWS fans :) He doesn't need Kei-chans support anymore. He has his own light, same as the other three.
The NEWS right now is the best what a Johnny's fan could wish for. A harmony between all members. It's true that Tegoshi sometimes seems as the front person, but in reality, when you see a live concert, it's not like that at all. The are all equal. I never thought a day like this will come and in the end I'm very thankful for Yamapi's and Ryo's departure. They had tough times, but the result is BECAUSE of that even more awesome. Once again, thank you NEWS ;)

Wow, this was the longest report of my life I think :D If anybody came until here, congratulations!

I think I will end this post with this, because it’s getting way too long. In some days I will update my LJ with the stories about my first meeting with hakucchan from LJ and Jingu Hanabi Taikai event in Tokyo  with Tackey, Kinki Kids and Matchy.

See you soon~

「NEWS LIVE TOUR 2013」
Goods photoshoot report:

g1
NEWS LIVE TOUR 2013 will soon start on 7/26 (Fri)!
Johnny's web brings you a report on what the pamphlet photoshoot was like, as well as an introduction of the goods!

★Photoshoot★
★Goods introduction★

★Photoshoot★

The members had changed into formal jacket style costumes when they came into the house set in a studio in Tokyo.

For the jumbo uchiwa shots, Tegoshi worked proactively, asking “Maybe this level of smiling?” as he carefully changed his expressions and atmosphere for each shot.

After Tegoshi’s turn, it was Koyama who came into the set next. Before the test shots, he suggested a pose, “Maybe it’s better if I put my thumb on my waist?” After actually getting some shots taken, he looked into the monitor to see what it turned out like. He goes over all the details in order to get the best results with the best quality.

Next was Masuda, he came into the studio shouting “I’m looking forward to this!” energetically as he got in front of the camera.

He tries tilting his head for his full body shot, tries touching his hand to a shoulder, doing different things for each shot.

After Kato’s test shots, he stretched his face muscles showing his teeth so that he’d be warmed up. He quickly adjust his face again and put on a cool expression for the photoshoot. Koyama and Masuda were watching the monitor and for some reason they started to passionately yell encouragement, “Fooooo!!” (lol)

When the cameraman-san looked into the monitor showing Kato and said “This one’s cool and good!” Masuda jokingly (!?) rejects the option cutely, “We can’t use this one then (lol).” Kato couldn’t help but laugh at Masuda’s tsundere response.

Meanwhile, Tegoshi had settled into a break; he grabbed Kato’s guitar that was there and says “Kato-kuuuun! Can I use your guitarrrr! Suuuure!” as if he were Kato (lol), and starts strumming and singing NEWS’ songs!

After passionately singing WORLD QUEST, Sakura Girl, and other songs, he started on Pokoponpekorya, and when he started on the chorus, Masuda, who had been in the make up room, walked in, beautifully singing along the harmony line.

Next were the shots for the pamphlet. The shots were in pairs, and Masuda and Koyama were the ones to start this off.
The two started off with awesome cool poses, but when they got requested “Let’s try out some hyper shots too!” they start giving lots of ideas for their shots, “Can I maybe lean against the wall?” (Koyama), “What about if we look relaxed?” (Masuda).

Next was Tegoshi and Kato's shots.
Kato positioned himself back to back with Tegoshi, and then requested to Koyama, who was nearby, "Koyama~! Come make me laugh~! Come over here (lol)."
Koyama said "Why would I~ (lol)!" but came over anyway, making Tegoshi and Kato, and even Masuda crack up; this was a moment where the camera caught NEWS showing very natural smiles.

NEWS finished with their formal shots in a fun atmosphere.
They next changed into casual costumes in natural colors, and they moved to a different studio in the same building.
The wallpaper was different and the furniture and props were antique, it was almost like an European apartment.

After taking their solo shots with the window in the back, the four sat at a table together and had their group shots taken. They were asked to just chat and show their normal atmosphere together; Tegoshi took a hold of the antique globe and cutely said "Where's Japan~?"
Everyone then started spinning the globe, actually looking for Japan... The group shots ended up being full of shots with a fun feel.

In between shots, we saw Koyama and Masuda charge up on their energy, eating snacks.
"This is really good!" says Masuda with a Massu smile, recommending the coconut flavored donuts to the members; Koyama had just gotten back from abroad and popped some rice balls as well as Masuda's recommended donuts in his mouth, saying "Everything in Japan is so good~."

After finishing the inside shots with good time, for their last shots they all went outside on the rooftop.
In the distance was Tokyo Sky Tree, nearby was a canal with boats specifically prepared for small parties, and below them was an amazing night view of central Tokyo; while the equipment was being adjusted, we saw the members taking pictures of the scenery and of themselves with their own cameras (lol).

In the group shot on the roof, NEWS squished together, their order was Koyama, Tegoshi, Kato, and then Masuda. To adjust their positions Koyama and Tegoshi were requested to switch positions, but Koyama and Kato&Masuda squished up against Tegoshi on purpose so that he couldn't move (!?).
Tegoshi made a "waaah!" face and cracked up cutely too (lol). They then quickly adjusted their positions and expressions, preparing fully for the final shots. NEWS gave their all for the photoshoot, at the same time enjoying it.

In addition to this photoshoot they had in a house set, NEWS also went to a riverside with grass. There're lots of pictures with various expression from cool to cute smiles!

About NEWS, about the album, about the live shows... don't miss this pamphlet where the members talked a ton!

★Goods introduction★

Here we introduce you to the goods to be sold a the venues, starting from the planning meetings the members attended!

First the jumbo uchiwas and clearfiles.
The jumbo uchiwas and clear files are filled with sharp looking expressions and smiles.

This time, the backsides appear to have the patters on the back of the NEWS album’s jacket; a purple square (Koyama), a green circle (Kato), a yellow triangle (Masuda), and a pink heart (Tegoshi).

Because the motifs are printed on it, they’re sure to be noticeable even from a distance!

When they were discussing the goods in their meeting, for some reason Tegoshi started a unique call out saying “Triangle Masuda! Square’s Koyama! Green peas Kato!:”

When you think of live shows, it’s going to be this one! And so the T-shirts a fresh looking white.

The colorful motifs & the tour title in silver on the chest accentuate the simple and cute design. The motif has studs that go with the colors too!

The members discussed thoroughly about where to put the logo and it’s size.

In the meeting, they lined up numerous ideas on the table and chose which was the best.
Looking at the first choice, Masuda suggests “What about making the logo one size bigger?” and Tegoshi responds, “Bigger, so like this?” picking up a different version logo and placing it on a blank T-shirt.
“If you think about it actually gets worn, maybe a little higher?” says Koyama, as they carefully adjust the logo position.

Kato also suggests “We should check out what it looks like from a distance too,” and so they taped the logos to the blank t-shirts and looked at them from various angles before picking one!

“I want the tag to be at the bottom~!” says Masuda, and this idea was incorporated into this item the members were rather particular about too.

One of the things that give live shows color are the original penlights.

The penlight has a white handle and is a clear cube, in which the square & heart and the triangle & circle motifs light up in two rows.
It’s very pop and it the motifs look like floating candy!

And then items that you can’t not have for summer live shows, sports towels and the NEWS tumbler!
The tumbler will help you keep hydrated, it’s base color is white. The lid has a handle, “It’s easy to hold and is quite nice!” praises Koyama about how well it fits into your hand!

The sports towel feature the live logo right in the center, nice and big.

It’s a useful size; you can put in on your shoulders or on your head to block the sun.

“This is the right size if you want to put it on your pillow too!” says Masuda; please do use it in various ways after the shows too!

Always with them even after the shows! Also in the line up, NEWS case, original mobile stickers, and NEWS hair clips. Items made from the members’ wish, “So that we can always be together, something you can use in everyday life.”
The NEWS case is a small white container. A cute design; the motif’s popped out of the lid. It’s small enough to fit in our palm, and seems like the perfect size to carry around small things in!

The original mobile stockers are a set of large, medium, and small soft stickers. Please have fun using them with your handheld mobile devices!

The NEWS hair clips are a set of four, member-colored, and have a soothing cooling look. “You can use these when you’re washing your face” (Tegoshi), “Might be good when you do your make up too?” (Kato); just as they say, we recommend using it in your everyday life.

Also a tote bag that’ll fit all the goods!
The linen’s a worn white and it has a thick rope type handle; it looks very summer-ish.

It’s a grown up and cute design; the live logo’s simply printed in monotone colors. In contrast though, the inside has a fun atmosphere with the colorful motif printed all over.

It’s big enough to be good for a 2-3 day trip, so it’ll definitely come to use in a lot of situations!

There’s also the pamphlet poster, and original photoset on top of this!

The NEWS LIVE TOUR 2013 goods are filled with the members’ thoughts.

NEWS Concert Report (Osaka 2013.08.24 afternoon)

Recuerda usar traductor ^_^

The... sequence of the concert in this report may not be in order, becoz my memory is overflowing now...

"You have come a long way, everything is for today" (L'Arc~en~Ciel - BLESS)

That song is a perfect one to describe how Aya (@Soracchi27) and I successfully passed all the hardships before finally we could see NEWS, the four of them in front of our eyes. To make long story short, we took the flight from Jakarta - Kuala Lumpur, then took the connecting one from KL to Osaka with arrival time of Aug 23 morning. But the flight from Jakarta to KL was delayed so we missed the flight from KL to Osaka! "Stranded" in KL for a night, we could only take KL - Tokyo flight if we wanted to arrive on time for the concert, because the next flight to Osaka was on Aug 24 afternoon =_=. We took the Tokyo flight, which was also delayed for 2 hours *OMG!!*, arrived at Haneda, then took the first monorail train to Tokyo Station, continuing with Shinkansen Nozomi to Osaka.

Arrived in Osaka on Saturday, Aug 24 about 9:30 AM, we found difficulty to find our hotel, so we arrived at Osakajo Hall at around 11:45, where the show was started at 12:30. We didn't have time to have our breakfast, and later we'd be amazed by Tego saying something about this XD. All of the ruckus that happened were tiring, and jokingly Aya & I said to each other, "It's Tego's fault! Coz he always does something that makes us "bully" him, now he sent the karma to us" XD Stupid joke, but then Tego did something which made us cracked because of this.

Our seats were good! It's on the 1st floor, quite in front. I was wearing my NEWS costume (Tegoshi's one) which I used for cosplaying long time ago. Many fans commented on that, of course XD Most of the fans, as usual, dressed very high-effortly and every girl looked beautiful. I was still in disbelief that my 7 years of dream would finally come true today, until the lights were turned off and ~compass~ was playing. ~compass~ video opening was awesome, now I'll never look at the compass the same way I used to look at. Funnily, there's a part that said "From Tokyo, to Osaka they came" LOL it somehow fitted our experience. My feelings were so overflown that it's difficult to breathe. Glad that during World Quest, I started to control my emotion. Their red kimono costumes were super cool! I didn't remember the order, but they performed Chankapaana, 4+FAN, Nagisa no Oneesama.

First MC. It's their first time to have a concert in Osakajo Hall after they became 4. It's also the first time they had a concert in the afternoon. Basically they said, "Let's be lovey dovey with us during this concert" (Tego said, "Even guys too!") LOL.

VTR of them discussing about Osaka. Massu of course said takoyaki, then TegoShigeMassu mentioned USJ (to which Kei-chan posed as Spider-Man), Glico and Tsutenkaku Tower, which was also monomane-ed by Kei-chan and received cold reaction from the 3 XDD. They also discussed how cute Pokoponpekorya dance is (they gave example the "gyu" part), while they should be looking wild or manly. Then each of them made a sexy pose & look, and all of the fans screamed like crazy. They closed the VTR with manly expressions and deep voices (and burning fire sfx LOL) saying, "Pokoponpekorya". The song and the dance....were still the cute ones hahaha we got trolled thinking that they made a remix. They performed Greedier (with standing mics decorated with shells and starfish), Koi Matsuri (and the mass towel-playing), Endless Summer.

Coz my memory is messing with me, so here what I could remember afterwards:
- They performed SHOCK ME, which made me really shocked, because I was wearing the costume when they performed SHOCK ME during pacific concert...or N-E-W-S one? The choreography and music were changed  a bit, it was so refreshing!
- Massu seriously look very sexy during Remedy. Wearing a sleeveless shirt with very low side-cut, his muscles showing...No need to look cute anymore!
- Shige's solo Dreamcatcher....so Shige-ish! A bit jazzy with the screen showing 2 Shiges, one live (wearing pink suit) and another one was recorded (wearing simple white shirt).
- Keichan's solo was as beautiful and gorgeous as always...with K-popish touch as we all know about his style.
- Tegoshi's Loving U...Performed with guitar and strong expressions.
- MC. This was where the hilariousness happened. So they talked about Tego being late when they supposed to go to Niigata. Instead of saying sorry, Tego just calmly greeted them and sat (Massu imitated him veeery well XD). They made it to arrive at the venue 30mins before the show! Shige said exaggeratingly, "What if Tegoshi didn't appear..How many people in NEWS will remain? Three?!" LOL. Tegoshi's lateness wasn't the first time. One time he was so late that they picked him up at his house, where he just woke up because his alarm was put in "oyasumi mode". They were also panicked because Tego can't be reached by phone, they even called his mom XD. And Tegoshi just commented, "I was only 5 mins late!" which got protested. They demanded him to apologize and Tego imitated Massu's gag "Gomen gomen gomen namaste". Keichan said he should kneeled down while apologizing, and they made a simulation where Tegoshi was late and came during World Quest song. So they returned to backstage using the hydraulic stage...with Keichan n Tego kneeled down. Keichan suddenly said, "Ohh! Why I'm kneeling down too?!" to which Tego replied, "because you're an airhead". They performed the beginning part of World Quest with Tego kneeling down and saying, "Gomennasai", which made Aya & I bursted into laughter, remembering we blamed Tego when we got problems before coming to their live XDDD
- They performed Liar, which I didn't think will happen.
- Last MC was hilarious coz the member giving speech imitated what the previous member said, and how they said it, then they made their own speech.
- Shige said, "Arigatooooooooooooo" with a very long "ooooo" that even surpassed Tego's "Chankapanaaaaaaaaaaa". We applauded him, but then Koyategomass made fun of it by harmonizing "arigatooo", then changed it to "Shigekatoooo shagareruuuuu" (=hoarse voice).
- Tego said that he was worried of fans coming to the afternoon show, whether we have had breakfast (oh he knew us so well! XD) or we got rained.. Keichan asked what time did we wake up and most fans said 6 AM. We shouted the time randomly and he said, "Urusai!!"
- Keichan asked if we're having fun, coz it's the most important. then he continued, "Will you marry me?" (yaaaaaaaaaaay), "Who wants to marry me?" *lots raised their hands up*
- Delusional time: I thought I got spotted by Massu & Keichan because they pointed their fingers around my seat (thanks lighting operator for the spotlight to my area XD). My costume must be so blindingly bling bling just like theirs so they (maybe) noticed it. Yay! *delusional*
- Shige was like taking glances, moved away, then waved coolly, all the time. Tsundere!!
- Tegoshi and his speech skills were lovely! So positive! He made us believe that NEWS is okay and will continue to be doing great.
- Massu..... Damn I didn't remember much because I was too stunned by him, blamed him for coming to our area often XD. Massu changed clothes, Massu drank water, Massu wiped his sweat etc etc he did it at the stage near my seat.
- Songs performed (not in order): World Quest, 4+FAN, Chankapana, Nagisa no Oneesama, Endless Summer, weeeek, Koi no ABO, BE FUNKY, Liar, Bolero...(didn't remember the full title), Dance in the Dark (sexy Massu!!!), Higher Ground. Futari/130000000 no Kiseki and Summertime were remixed into slower tempo, almost ballad-like. Cherish (which made me cry again).
- 1st encore: 4+FAN, Happy Birthday
- 2nd encore: Nagisa no Oneesama, then Kei introduces all the Juniors including Massu who danced happily XD When they went down the stairs to backstage, Massu said "Bye bye my kittens" just like how Tego did. #foreverteasing

I think that's all that I can write tonight. Will add some details when my memory is back.

Fan Report NEWS concierto 27 de julio 2013

Foto: #NEWS10th ►FANCAM: NEWS LIVE TOUR 2013 - 2nd day July 27th (the stormy day) Send a DM to the page to get the link onegai~

Recuerda usar traductor ^_^

The concert... was canceled halfway through due to heavy rain and lightning, but they announced we're going to do it again tomorrow. I might update this report later...

So, I went over to the stadium a little early to buy goods. I made it through the goods line in under two hours, even though the line started inside Kokuritsu stadium. While I was waiting for 4:00 to roll around, the staff was making announcements about today's concert and one of the guys made all the girls laugh when he fumbled and thanked us for coming to "Arashi's" concert. He'd probably been delirious from the heat and repeating himself all afternoon.

The stadium stage was set up in a large X shape with Tegoshi's heart in front of us. There was a runway that went around the edge of the stand seats. The biggest stage was in the center.

The concert began just about on time, starting with an opening video of "Compass". The center stage rose up and the members appeared in red kimono-like outfits for "World Quest". In "Chankapana", the wind started blowing a bit harder right as Masu began to sing, making his hair fly back artistically. We couldn't help but laugh. A bunch of juniors appeared on the side runways to join in the cute dance. During the song, we screamed when each member said their part.

After "4+Fan", the members gave their greetings.

K: We wanted to meet you! How about you?!

Us: Yeah!

K: When will you meet us?! (Itsu au no?)

Us: Now!! (Ima desho!!)

For the people who don't know this already, this is taken from a recently popular commercial about charismatic tutors who ask when are we going to start studying and enforce that it's "now or never".

M: Are you ready for some fun?!

S: Do you love us?

Us: Yes!

S: Really?

Us: Yes!

S: I love you too!

T: Tegoshi Yuya, here!

He got us pumped up with a bunch of "yeah"s and asked for our help to make the concert a success. The other members had switched outfits into black and white costumes. Kei-chan waved to us as he walked past and Tegoshi blew us a kiss.

At the "back" stage, for lack of a better name, they sang "Nagisa no Onee Summer" and hopped on carts for "Beach Angel". The juniors came out in yellow costumes. Masu ducked down low on his cart to sing to the crowd. Shige came over to our section for "Koi Matsuri". This song was my personal favorite before the concert and now it's unforgettable. They had us ready our towels and swing them around as hard as we could in the air during the chorus. The guys got really into it too. Masu came over to us and was trying to sing cooly, but swung his towel around very enthusiastically when he got to. There were water cannons that shot off at the end of the song.

They went back to the center for "Full Swing", getting on to small individual moving stages that rolled them into the middle of the crowd. Shige sat down for a bit on his. When the stages joined two and two together, Shige and Masu leaned forward to whisper something to each other, but the one that really got our attentions was Kei and Tegoshi. Kei reached around Tegoshi's waist to hug him from behind and managed to throw Tegoshi off beat during his singing by switching the side he was looking at him from right to left several times and then kissed him on the cheek.

A marching band came out to give us a short performance until NEWS reappeared in bright colorful "pop" vests. The band stayed for the next several songs, "Good News", "NEWS Nippon", and "Kibou". There were brief segments in "NEWS Nippon" where the members danced with the marching band and again in "Kibou" when they did a cool marching "X" with everyone.

Kei told us to thank the band as they were marching out and next was "Taiyou no Namida". The juniors rejoined us on the sides for "Pekopon Pekorya" wearing these funny blinking hats and a few special ones wearing head pieces the shape of the members shapes for this tour. They all did the ridiculous cute dance moves that go with the song. Masu made us laugh with his silly voice to sing at the end.

Shige and Masu were next to us for "Endless Summer". There was a point when Masu was supposed to sing with Kei-chan and started, only to stop a second later, give us a funny exaggerated frown, and listen to see where Kei was at in the line.

On the other side of the stadium from us, they set up standing mics for "Greedier". I believe it was Kei and Masu who reached out their hands to each other in milady and milord fashion. One of them got down on one knee as he took the other's hand. They did a brief spin before going over to the mics. The video screens were colored like an old film in dusty brown.

A cart brought Masu over to the center stage where dancers waiting for him to start his solo. His dance number was very cool with a mix of erotic moves and hip thrust. He falls down to his knees as if his "illness" is getting to him for part of it.

Over at the "front" stage, a few dancers began the next part. Tegoshi sprung out of the bottom of the stage and danced together with them until he raised his arms up, bringing Shige up to the stage next. Tegoshi dropped back down under the stage and after Shige's short dance, he pointed to the other side of the stage, signaling Kei's appearance. As far as I'm concerned, Kei-chan's dance was the coolest (and sexist) of all of them. Masu popped up last, then each of them reappeared at the end.

Their costumes were mostly blue, accented with yellow and white. "Shock Me" had fire shooting out of the stage. We screamed loudly for Kei's spoken "Shock Me" and Shige's too.

The lyrics on the screen for "Be Funky" looked very pop. The juniors were in red, which we could see especially well when Kei decided to pick one of them up from behind under the boy's arms and swing him around in a circle. They looked so sweet!

They gathered in the center and Masu ran to catch up, but in a funny way that looked like he was running "carefully". As the song ended, Masu collapsed on the stage, Kei following shortly after.

MC

Kei: Are you having fun?

Us: Yeah!

Kei: How's your energy level?

Us: Yeah!

He turned to the other exhausted members. "NEWS, are you guys okay? Shige, how are you doing?"

Shige gave us his best Antonio Inoki impression and we joined in for the "1, 2, 3, DA!" He promptly collapsed afterwards.

K: Masu? How are you?

Masu gave us a mystery arms-spread-wide move that we guessed meant he was doing fine.

They managed to pull themselves off the floor and Koyama reintroduced themselves as "NEWS".

K: Are you sweaty?

Us: Yeah!

K: We're drenched too. Please sit down and make sure you drink some water.

Tegoshi walked over to Kei-chan with a drink thermos. Then Masu came over with another drink bottle. Kei-chan looked down at the bottles and asked why they'd both given him one.

M: Because we both love you.

Us: Whoooooo~!

S: Now you have to drink both of them.

Kei joked, "Why do you sound like you're angry?"

The subject moved on to the rain. It had sprinkled a bit before the start of the concert.

Kei looked pointedly at Masu. "Are you really a 'hare otoko'?" (A person who brings sunny weather with them where ever they go.)

M: I am.

K: Is that just an occasional thing? It rained a little before we came out.

S: But it cleared up when NEWS came out.

Us: Whoooooo~!

T:........

K:???!!

Tegoshi was trying his best not to say anything, although his attention was completely focused on Koyama, who was staring at the drink bottle in his hand with a perplexed expression on his face.

K: What's supposed to be in here?

Tegoshi kept his silence.

K: Hey!! Just what is in here? And is it even a drinkable substance?!!

He ganged up on Tegoshi, holding the bottle out toward him. Tegoshi was trying not to laugh as Kei went back to the other drink thermos.

Kei started to go off on a short rant about them making him drink something weird that was probably going to kill him later. He fell down on his knees and whined, "Tell me! It's gonna bother me the rest of the concert. What was in it?!" It was hilarious how Kei-chan was crying on one corner of the square stage by himself and the other three were as far away as they could get in the opposite corner.

S: What does it taste like?

K: Sour... Like umeboshi. (Pickled plum)

They laughed at his bitter expression, as did the crowd. But we were also yelling at how adorable Kei was being while he was freaking out.

K: Why are you laughing? I'm panicking here!

T: Who do you think did that to your drink?

K: It was DEFINITELY YOU!! What is it?! Tell me already!

T: It was a very healthy mixture of the sports drink Pocari, lemon, and umeboshi.

We exclaimed at how gross it sounded.

T: You should say "thank you" for it.

Kei made the best "that's the last thing I want to do right now" face and muttered, "Thank you." He took one last sip and then turned on the others.

K: Did you try it?

T: No.

Kei ran toward them with bottle outstretched. "You've got to try it. Just once."

Tegoshi took the bottle from him and gave it an experimental sip. He gagged and gave it back.

Kei passed it to Masu next. He'd barely gotten it in his mouth before he bent over at the waist and spit it out.

That left Shige. He made an "AH!! face and froze like that.

T: "Shock Me!"

K: You weren't the one drinking it then!

Masu pointed to the stage, "What should we do about that? We could slip on it later."

Tegoshi bent down and used his towel to wipe the "spill" up. "There. It's all clean."

K: That towel's pretty useful.

S: You were all swinging them around really well for "Koi Matsuri".

T: Someone I know lined up for goods and said it took about 5, 6 hours to finish.

They asked the crowd how long it'd taken them.

S: It's like an auction. Going, 5, 5, 6, 6, 6.

Kei-chan came back on stage with a hair clip attached to his bangs, making him look adorable.

K: The towels are really useful. You could even use them as a pillow. Masu? What's wrong?

Masu lifted his mic up, but didn't say anything and zoned out.

K: Masu! Talk to me! You can tell me without using your mic.

He leaned forward to tell him.

Shaking his head at Masu's answer, Kei told us that he said he was tired.

S: Do you need a chair? (Isu iru?)

M: I'm good. (Ii su.)

We "whoooo~"ed as his clever pun.

S: You know that Masu designed the outfits. They're amazing, aren't they? Do you remember those down vests? Well, they had a lot of stuff packed in them. So, Masu, what made you want to make something like that?

Masu launched into explanation in a toned down voice, "Well, I kept thinking why do down vests always have to be hot? Like when you wear it with a t-shirt..." He muttered on for a bit about the balls he'd stuffed inside.

S: There was even one the size of a baseball. Staff, can you bring us one of the vest?

T: Kei-chan, you should do a "ball" for us.

Kei reluctantly did his best impression of a ball, which was to put his arms together above his head. Then he ran at Tegoshi for making him do it.

K: Why is it always me who does these things? You know, I saw the DVD from last year and I'm always getting picked on.

They couldn't let the chance to mess with him some more pass, so Shige casually mentioned that since they were at the Rugby Stadium, Kei should give them an impression of a rugby.

Kei tried to think of something to do, but couldn't and whined, "I'm sorry!"

T: So you can't even do something so simple as a rugby?

Kei pretended to get angry at Tegoshi's smart remark.

The wind picked up again. Playing around, Masu started a dance into the wind, impressing Tegoshi.

Shige kept talking about Tegoshi being weird backstage earlier until he realized the staff still hadn't brought out the vests. "Where are they? So you won't even listen to NEWS now?"

To stall for more time, Masu began explaining about his other outfit ideas. "I thought they were very, in Japanese, "pop".

S: Except that that's English!

Masu kept talking in his "I'm an amazing designer who knows everything" voice, saying, "And for the outfits coming up soon, they made me think "Wow" when I first imagined them."

Still stalling for time, Tegoshi told us a story from the news show that Kei-chan is a caster for. "All the people that watch "news every" will know the high-pitched "every" they use a lot. Well, the person that does the "every" voice.... is me.

Us: Eh?!?!

T: ...Which is all a big lie.

Us: Eh??!!

Kei was laughing at him, but also said, "So annoying!"

One of Masu's vests made its appearance. The outside layer was clear so that you could see all the different colored balls that he'd shoved inside. While everyone was busy admiring it, Kei-chan ducked away to get changed for his solo.

S: Why don't you get changed on the stage?

K: Because.... it's raining.

It has begun to sprinkle so Koyama used that as an excuse to escape.

Holding the vest up, Masu excitedly said, "Look! Look! Look! There are toys inside of some of the balls! They were actually mine. I found a few and decided to put them into the vests."

Shige and Masu kept joking around until the wind picked up once again, prompting Masu to start singing a song about wind.

S: Masu, we need to think of a NEWS song to sing when the wind starts blowing.

Tegoshi belted out the line "Kaze ga fuiteiru" from Ikimonogakari's song.

All they could think of with wind in it were winter songs.

S: It'd be good if it was something about being chilly though.

Then he started singing "Snow Express".

S: You know, I noticed something when I watched an DVD. Tegoshi doesn't seem to know the lyrics to certain songs.

M: The intro sort of gets mumbled.

S: You should try singing one.

T: Ring Ring..........

They laughed that that was as far as he got.

Then they started a contest to see who could sing a note the longest, using the last "Chankapana" from the song. Tegoshi went first, belting out the note for a long time.

Shige was next. It was sort of off-key and rather short, so we all burst out laughing. None more than Masu and Tegoshi, of course.

S: We should stop this.

In the background, we could see lightning flashing in the sky and sometimes thunder sounded. A cool wind blew and a bunch of girls started to pull out their rain ponchos. The sprinkling was getting heavier.

M: We also have an announcement for you. To celebrate our 10th anniversary, we're holding a special event in September!

S: Where's it at?

M: In the Tokyo Dome... Masuda will..... come! (The phrase uses "_ ni.... _ ga.... kita~~~!!!" It's another old joke.)

S: Will you come?!

Us: Iitomo!! (Yes!)

Shige picked up something from the stage and tried to pass it to Masu, but whatever it was, Masuda didn't want to have anything to do with it and ran away from him. "Don't come any closer!" He whined to Shige until he tossed it off the stage somewhere else. (Maybe a bug on the stage?)

Tegoshi got us pumped up for the second half. "Next up is Kei-chan!"

A video played of Kei walking alone on a rainy street while couples went past. It was still sprinkling outside, so it made the lasers reflect prettily. There was a bit of lightning too. Kei came out in a white suit and sang his solo, quite literally in a "Beautiful Rain".

The stage rose up and Masu came out first, starting the ballad for "Ichioku Sanzenman Bun no Futari no Kiseki". The rain was heavier in "Summer Time" and all the guys sat down on the stage, then laid back to let in rain on them.

They'd just finished "Cherish" when the rain really let go, making Kei-chan yell out, "Ikkai, stop!" (Stop for a minute!) Shige and Tegoshi were backstage getting ready for their solos, so only Masu and Kei were on the stage to keep us company as it rained buckets on us. They hoped to wait it out and that the rain would go back to the sprinkling it was before.

The shower continued, making Masu try to fix his hair with the rain water.

Trying to swipe the water out of his eyes, Kei said, "This'll sure be in interesting memory for all of you."

Singing a short acapella, Masu and Kei kept us entertained. A few girls were taking out their umbrellas, because at that point, the ponchos weren't doing much. Some worried that they might cancel at this rate.

Kei-chan called out to us constantly, asking if we were really doing okay. He was worried about people catching colds.

The rain got stronger yet and the towel Masu had on his head wasn't helping that much anymore. He went back to singing and calling out for Tegoshi. Eventually, he figured he would go for a walk and waved to the crowd as he went by the stands.

Shige popped out in an orange/pink suit at center stage. Kei laughed that Shige was too eager to start because there was even a stand mic ready for him. Tegoshi came out too. They gathered together and then a staff member ran over to tell Koyama the news.

Kei told us that the rain forecast said that the rain wouldn't let up for about another hour and that the lightning was too dangerous for them to continue the concert. They announced the concert would be canceled for today around 7:45. Kei gave us the good news that they would do the concert again tomorrow, starting at the same time.

The members all apologized over and over again. They said that they were sad they couldn't continue and that they were looking forward to seeing us tomorrow. But they also knew that some people wouldn't be able to make it and they expressed their regret for those fans. Tegoshi even got down on his knees.

Most people stood around trying to decide their plans for tomorrow for a few minutes before everyone started to file out of the stadium. Tegoshi said that they wouldn't leave until every person had gone and they hoped we would be careful getting home.

I was fine with their decision as this isn't the first concert I've been to when I've been drenched from the rain. The lightning was what probably was the deciding factor. Anyway, I'll be going again tomorrow and I'm sure it'll be a blast. Like the boys said, this will become a very memorable concert for me...
